Las cucarachas

Okay...I haven't updated in a while, and I will put up some recent pictures and stories soon, but for now, here's my dilemma. I've lived here for 9 months now and am still getting accustomed to certain things...one of which is the cockroaches. It doesn't matter how clean your house is, it doesn't matter your religion or your race or your socio-economic status, you will always find cockroaches. There is progress, though, I've been a brave girl and don't scream or squeal now, but I still don't really like them. I don't think I'll ever really like them...la cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no puede caminar.

"My first Second Cousin :)." On April 13, 2007, John August Costin IV entered into this scary but beautiful world. Congratulations Brooke and John, I can't wait to meet little Jack :). Love you guys!

Semana Santa

I couldn't have asked for more...

We celebrated Fernando's Birthday,

I learned how to play dominos with Jeddison's family and visited other families of my students that live in Corosito,

We stayed in the cutest Bungalow at the beach in Las Galeras,

I got to read a lot and rest on the beach...we also went snorkeling and saw some crabs, sting rays and lot of beautiful fish.

We ate this huge crab fresh from the ocean, they boiled it for us and brought it to us right on the beach...

And finally, I got to enjoy my vacation with some of my favorite people in this country...I got to see the sunset over the mountains and the ocean, I got to experience more of God's beauty in a different part of the Dominican Republic, I got to learn more about myself and be reminded why I'm here...I was reminded that it's hard to live here, but that truly "living" life means going through hard things de vez en cuando and not giving up. Sacrificing. Living Slowly. Loving. Punto.
